Renewable Heating

At AlphaOne Electrics our favourite product is the energy diverter. The reason we love the underestimated energy diverter is that it is simple, inexpensive, and very flexible. An energy diverter like the iboost or the Eddi allows you to send surplus solar energy to a resistive element, like an immersion heater in a hot water cylinder or an electric element in a towel radiator.

As well as sending power to a resistive load when there is a surplus of power from solar, we can also program the diverters to send power to the loads when there is a low tariff period! For example, it is quite possible that a customer on the Octopus agile tariff to heat their water in their cylinder during a time where power costs a negative amount meaning that by heating the water through the immersion, they are actually reducing their energy bill! All this is possible via a simple energy diverter. 

The energy diverter is perfect for people who do not want to spend the sort of money a battery costs but do want to make use of the excess power their solar produces. Many of our customers inform us that during the Spring and summer seasons they leave their boiler turned off as the energy diverter heats up all the water they need. This is obviously individual to everyone and depends on a few variables in the home or business, but it is great to hear!
